Luke 21:1-2-3, "He (Jesus) looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury. And He saw also a certain poor window casting in thither two mites (small copper coins) And He said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor window hath cast in more than they all."
If Jesus believed in the prosperity gospel, He would have said the widow's poverty was due to her lack of faith & complimented the rich on their faith.
Also, when Jesus was eating at the Pharisee's house, He approved of the woman spending so much on perfume to anoint His feet. It's good for us to sacrifice for God -- it demonstrates our faith in His ability to meet our needs. Sure, He owns the cattle on 1,000 hills, but He gives in proportion to our need, knowing that too much may give us a case of cranial inflammation. (Paul knew how to live in abundance or in need -- showing godly life is independent of wealth & involves generosity whether we're rich or poor.)
